If we are the result of chance, plus nothing, then necessarily we are all ciphers, and our very existence is devoid of meaning, still less value -- past, present, future -- totally irrelevant. If any are comfortable with that concept, enjoy.

P.S. -- Proud of you guys BTW. No one has flamed yet, in spite of the diverse opinions. Hope the good will holds up.

Stout Christian here. Catholic, to be exact.

i believe that there is a God, that his son Jesus Christ came down to earth, performed several miracles and died for our sins.

basically, anything in the Bible.

while there is no proof of my beliefs, i guess Christianity wouldn't be called a "faith" if there was blatant proof of God's existence.

i've only started to check in on Theology and really learn about my faith, and i'm enjoying it.

i can answer some questions, but not all...if anyone wants to know anything i'm open to PMs.

There are many reasons im not a believer in anything (and im greatful for it), one of them is the question i always ask to myself when people talk about heaven and crap "Why spend your whole life worrying about what happens to you after you die?"... luckly for me I believe in neither heaven nor hell, just a hole in the ground under a stone with my name on it...

My mom is a little afraid of religion for some reason, for example, my brother became friends with someone who was highly religions and my mom was afraid she would try to make him join some crazy cult... heh

I've been raised the 13 years of my life as a Christian. I feel like giving it up, but...eh. I'm too lazy.

I was raised a Catholic all my life and studied theology during all of my school years. I believe in the bible, but I don't take all of its words as literal interpretations. Why? Anwser: The bible was inspired from above but penned by man. Anything with man's involvement isn't guaranteed to be "perfect," especially given man's "creative license" issues.

I do believe in life after death. There are just too many matching accounts of near-death experiences involving tunnels of light, documented haunted places, EVP's, ghosts, etc... too many to simply ignore. I get a kick out of Ghost Hunters on the Sci-Fi Channel, along with Haunted location documentaries on the Travel Channel.

Please I want this thread to stay open, just tell things about your beliefs, do not criticize others.

Thank you, and Merry Christmas to all.

I believe that God did not write the bible or any other religious works simply because if we are his children, why would he give us conflicting rules on how to live. There are too many religions, and every one of them say they are the right one. What parent does this to their children? What parent gives their child conflicting information in the hopes they will make the 'right' decision?

I believe God exists, I just don't think he would mislead us. Why would he, he created us. We are doing the misleading. He's just watching, kinda like a real life version of The Sims.

I dislike backroom PM prefer open talk Thank You and post deletion without a reason to what i have said wrongly (I prefer to learn from my mistake on what went wrong). There is no point in the thread since it will be heavily moderated and there is no freedom to what u can say here. And i am sure there is a alot of touchy topic in here that is enough to start a war .

I wish the thread should be closed and wish everyone a Merry christmas and move on with our lifes.

We discourage topics like these because they are by nature conflicting, and differing opinions will ultimately lead to discussion and argument.

We cannot have a discussion if we do not discuss. Posting opinions is fine, but ultimately we can achieve the same effect looking through an encyclopedia of religion. Except the public forum has the drawback of having room for poor posts before the moderation can get to them.

I am going to grudgingly let this topic continue to run its course, but I will warn all users that flame posts will not be tolerated. Explain things in a reasonable and nonvulgar manner, or you will find your posts deleted and PMs headed your direction, as well as possible suspensions.

Croix_Raul, since you decided to request openly in the public forum what your error was, I'd like to oblige. Your first mistake was not PMing your issue with the deleted post to a forum or site moderator or administrator. It is explicity stated in the rules that if you have a problem with moderation, you do not bring it to the public forum. Secondly, as Unienaule's post implies, all posts responding to other users' posts are deleted, due to the fact that we are trying to make an effort to keep this topic out of the realm of discussion and left in the area of information. Your post was in response to another, thus it was deleted.

If anyone has any further questions or issues, PM me privately with them, and do not post in this topic. Any posts after mine concerning the moderation of this topic will be deleted with no reply. This includes responses to this post, as well.

Thank you.

If reality as it is can be (rather poorly) compared to a program (and is it not all code of some fashion?), bodily death would appear to offer the following possibilities.

A: level up
B: start over with a new avatar
C: game over

Since becoming a Christian, I have bet my life on A, although prior to that time I was a proponent of B.

While I'm a strong believer in evolution and science, I'm not exactly the type of person that will argue with someone over which religion is right.

I just see religion as a basis for good morals, and if the religion teaches people good morals and makes them good people, then no one can say anything bad about it.

i dont believe religion should be forced upon ppl, it should be a choice made by a person when and if they are ready

Example: schools
parents

it should be a choice made by a person when and if they are ready
